The body is built from torrified butternut and ancient redwood, and chambered for resonance and weight reduction. The neck is made of rare curly walnut, and topped with special grade cameroon ebony. The Headstock is capped with redwood to match the body.
World renowned jewelry designer, Todd Reed, hand cut and polished hundreds of small brass pins before hand pressing them into intricate vapors that follow the natural grains of the wood. The guitar is finished of with gold plated hardware and custom Lollar pickups. The knobs are handmade by Todd Reed and are one-of-a-kind.
This build was all about balance—tone, feel, and personal expression. The customer wanted something that resonated both sonically and emotionally, so we started with a Hawaiian Koa top for its rich warmth and stunning figure. Paired with a quarter-sawn Honduran Mahogany body and neck, this semi-hollow design delivers incredible sustain while keeping things lightweight and comfortable.
For playability, we went with a Cameroon Ebony fretboard, offering that snappy, articulate attack while maintaining a smooth feel under the fingers. Stability was another priority, so we spec’d it with a Gotoh 510 tremolo and locking tuners, plus an always-on bridge switch to expand tonal flexibility. The final touches—water buffalo horn knobs and a Macassar Ebony headstock inlay—brought everything together, making this build feel as unique as the player who inspired it.
