When we started Born, we committed ourselves to doing right by the planet. Matt wanted a guitar that embodied that promise, highlighting the connection between Earth and instrument. Together, we found and sourced a salvaged Myrtlewood top matched with a chambered Honduran mahogany body and salvaged Port Orford cedar neck. The catalox fretboard is inlaid with a custom mahogany tree and roots with falling leaves marking the appropriate frets. The electronics are just as exquisite, with two handwound Bornbuckers made splittable with a three-way toggle switch and push-pull pots for almost endless tonal options. Together, the peerless craftsmanship and uncompromising setup gave Matt exactly the instrument he craved: a a one-of-a-kind musical machine with a magical quality. This baby plays and sings like an angel, and is an angel for the environment, too.
